This post contains items that were gifted to me by Society+ and affiliate links to those items, as always my opinions are my own
If you follow Society+ over on Instagram you may have seen my weekend takeover featuring these items – however I think they really deserve their own thorough review because despite being gifted to me, they are fabulous items that I would purchase (and may in other colourways!).
I wear swing style skirts pretty frequently in summer, but often struggle with the sheer volume of material some of those skirts are made of. The Society+ Kate Middington Skirt is like a happy medium. It in evokes classic vintage styling but it is also modern and contemporary. I decided to swing toward the more contemporary styling as I am hyper aware that every plus size women is offering vintage styling and it does get repetitive. I added a crop top from Boohoo.com and my only pair of neutral shoes.
The skirt is intended to be worn lower on the waist, so I have altered mine to allow me to wear it higher. A size 14-16 has a 40 inch waistband and I made mine closer to a 37inch. This skirt also has pockets, and it’s made of a good medium weight fabric which feels nice to wear and probably lessens the chance of any wind related wardrobe malfunctions.
Similar in style to the midi skirt, the Solid Navy Skater Dress has the same medium weight fabric and draping. I adore the little capped sleeves making it a far more versatile dress for me. I am wearing a 14/16 and it is true to size – a little large in the waist for me but a great fit none the less. I generally wear a belt in this style so it doesn’t particularly bother me -and I prefer the fit in the bust to be right.
